DOWNWARD CLIMB

A woman begins a rapid descent to the dark places of the human soul when she perceives a violation of her trust.

I always tell my cast and crew that on shoot days we are only mixing paint. The movie is made in the editing room. I remain committed to my story but allow great room for the organic development and contributions made by the collective creative work of cast in crew. Downward Climb was born out of editing a reel for an actor. Reviewing the film I could not help but note there were at least two or three other stories to be told. One of which I thought most compelling. Being one to stretch creative work I thought the story did not need words. After gaining the rights and permission for the original story I wrote the new screenplay. The results being this silent film "Downward Climb" which won the People's Choice Award in its first small festival entry. The creative process is always a humbling and exciting learning experience. Thanks to Shane for trusting me with the story. Immense gratitude to my creative mirror Nicole who is also responsible for the compelling lead performance in the story and our putting together exacting music selections to score the film.
