Chuck's Interior Life

In this puppetry-driven short film, a creature named Chuck seeks comfort and safety from the dangerous outside world by shutting himself off inside a vacant house, but he soon finds himself alone and trapped in an increasingly shallow rut.

This film was created as a Senior Thesis work for my B.F.A. in photography at the University of South Florida. It was produced single-handedly in about a month from inception to final edit in order to meet my thesis deadline. The most difficult thing about the shoot was creating compositions that were interesting yet could also crop out a 6 foot tall puppeteer such as myself. This resulted in a lot of clever compromises as well as a lot of myself lying flat on by back on the ground. However, the results at their best show little of these restrictions and allow the character have a life of his own on screen.
