If anyone has any thoughts on what is happening with camera technology lately and how low budget films or indie films are benefiting, I would love to hear it.

I have heard lots of people are using still camera bodies to shoot short films and getting great results. I would love to hear more about how this works as I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to cameras. Are there drawbacks or limitations compared to other motion picture cameras?

I just looked at the list of the films at the Vancouver International Film Festival and I can't believe how many feature length indie films are out there. The quality of films is amazing. I would never have enough time to watch them all, but I love seeing films from foreign countries, it is the cheapest way to experience another culture.
